Ahead of Yourself

Have you heard the phrase you’re getting ahead of yourself? People say this as though it’s naturally a bad thing. Visionaries, leaders and innovators often get ahead of themselves in their thinking and doing. If no one got ahead of themselves man would still be rubbing rocks together to start a fire, using horse and buggy as an efficient mode of transportation and using balloons as an effective and comfortable form of contraceptive.

To move beyond where you are into where you want to be you’ll have to learn to get ahead of yourself more often than not. You’ll have to envision yourself doing that which you seek to do. You’ll have to see yourself in full possession of whatever you desire.

Get ahead of yourself.

If you don’t get ahead of yourself you may find it difficult to put one foot before the next. Without putting one foot before the next you may find it hard to create physical movement. If you find it hard to find difficult movement you may stand still. If you stand still you will get left behind simply because while you’re standing still other people and life continue to move forward.

Get ahead of yourself.

You may say that I have taken the “don’t get ahead of yourself” out of context and you are entitled to your opinion. Fact is we are simply exploring another point of view. Isn’t that something or have we gotten ahead of ourselves?
