If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. "THINK, PLAN, EXECUTE!"™

When you want to get more out of your social media activity for your business work towards being social. Put yourself in your audiences shoes, do you really think they want to hear another sells pitch about how great your product/service is? Do you think they really want to hear about how you’re going to help them get more money? They’ve most likely heard it before.

Share practical information and over time people will come to know and respect you as the authority on a given subject. People will be willing to share your name and resources with others. This is how you properly use social media to market and promote your business ie be social in social media.

Hand Out

2

While promoting the Music Industry Connection Book Series at For Sisters Only in Atlanta a young lady approached me and asked if the books were free? I asked how was she involved in the music business? She said she wasn’t. Then I asked her who did she know that was involved or wanted to be involved in the music business? She said no one. Why would you want something for free that you have no interest in, I asked? Additionally, why would you come to me with your hand extended (hand-out) as to say gimmie, gimmie, gimmie instead of with your hand in a position of a hand shake that shows willingness to conduct a business transaction?

I suggested that slaves have their hands out and beg with no mutual interest to all parties involved, while freed men and woman shake hands and come ready to do business, seeking to create a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Business Website

0

Simple steps to getting a website for your business. Yes, in most all cases a business will need to have a website.

  1. Consider what’s the purpose of your website ie is it to share information, promote a product and/or service or some combination.
  2. Determine what success is for your site and how you’ll measure success. Keep in mind that there’s a long-term residual effect that online branding, marketing and promotions has that may not be fully appreciated in the short-term. In fact, it’s safe to say that with the right internet marketing and social media strategy most small businesses will have an online presence even though their business will have officially closed down.
  3. Create a strategic plan for your site. Your site in many cases is only one part of your overall branding and marketing strategy.
  4. Decide if you’re going to build the site yourself or hire a professional to do it for you. Whatever you decide you’ll want to register the domain name yourself that way if something goes wrong with your designer you still have control of your url. Your url or web address is similar to real estate online. In many cases it’s directly tied into your businesses brand.
  5. Next you may want to secure hosting space for your site.

There’s more to do, but this is a quick start guide on things to consider when thinking of setting up your business website.

Business Fundamentals

0

The fundamentals of business don’t change much no matter how much technology advances.

With that being said online or off the goal is to add a tremendous amount of value to your customers. Your customers may mean business to business (b2b) ie publicists, distributors, promoters, conference organizers, etc. Clients could mean business to consumers (b2c) ie retail clients.

Some of the best ways in building brand recognition is to create trust and credibility. This is often achieved by having a clear and identifiable brand with your core audience. Consistency in your brands message is paramount. For instance, your profile photo should be the same or similar across social media, website and blog platforms.

You’ll want a way to stay in contact with your core audience and have a way for your core audience to connect with you. For details on how this is done you’ll want to take the free ecourse at Focus Your Motivation.

You have an opportunity to be seen as an expert and position your clients and business partners for long-term success.
