Are you a member of a social media group where most of the time people only post links about their businesses, but don’t add any real value to the community? Me too.

Have you ever wondered… is anyone visiting those links? Me too.

I often scan through the post to see what’s on the wall in various Facebook Groups. Most of the time I pass them by because they don’t add any real value to my professional or personal life. Additionally, many of the links are for network marketing businesses and while I’m all for business opportunities the way that these business are often promoted don’t add any value to what I’m doing.

When I do click on a link it’s because the link seems to have something of substance that will benefit my professional and/or personal life. Going a step further,  when I invest money it’s generally because the product or service fills a need that I have. Sometimes the need is indepth information and other times it’s to make my work flow more productive and/or efficient ie it helps me make more money.

People are seeking to get beyond the fluff in online communities and social media groups. I’ve come to know that the fluff is part of the territory and to some degree appreciate it, because it makes adding value a lot easier. After all if everyone were adding a great deal of valuable content, then I would have real competition in going the extra mile. ;-)
